Spotlighting small businesses and sustainable growth at BASE Conference

The annual BASE Conference returns to Amsterdam this October with the theme “Systems That Create Flow”. The focus: how small business owners can build practical structures for growth without losing flexibility or creativity.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make up 99% of all companies in the EU and employ nearly 160 million people (Eurostat). Yet too often, say the organisers, SMEs are left out of the big conversations on growth, sustainability, and innovation. Funding and policy tend to flow to corporates and scale-ups, leaving early-stage founders and micro-businesses overlooked.

A community-first conference

“BASE Conference is about more than business growth, it’s about community and building relationships as the foundation for sustainable growth,” said founder Veronica Guguian.

“A vision alone is not enough; businesses need systems, procedures and automation to truly thrive. At BASE 2025, we’ll explore how entrepreneurs can design structures that support resilience while treating relationships as a renewable and ongoing source of business.”

BASE is both a one-day conference and a year-round community for founders, freelancers, and entrepreneurs. Collaboration is the goal, not competition—what organisers call “a more circular way of doing business.”

This year’s programme is built around four pillars:

Build – Practical tools for smooth onboarding and better operations.

Advance – Streamlined marketing and sales that support steady growth.

Sustain – Financial resilience and sustainable practices that last.

Elevate – Space for innovation and strategic thinking.

Automation will be reframed not as impersonal, but as a way to unlock human potential—freeing founders to focus on creative, complex problems.

What to expect on the day

Workshops with hands-on templates and checklists.

Talks from practitioners who’ve scaled without losing their values.

Networking designed for long-term connections, not quick pitches.

Through the SPIN Community, attendees continue to collaborate after the event—sharing resources and forming partnerships well beyond the conference day.
